The awards are divided into categories relating to the various businesses involved in captive insurance, from management and and legal services to fronting and reinsurance brokerage.

There were separate awards for companies and individuals, to ensure the efforts of outstanding professionals working at smaller or less well resourced firms received the recognition they deserved. Individual and company awards were named for all except the domicile category, where it was not appropriate.

The awards were extremely competitive and in many cases closely run, with hundreds of votes cast by our readers. Votes were also cast for a huge number of different people and institutions, while 29 different US domiciles received votes for that category.

We have therefore in most cases named two additional highly commended companies or individuals that were runners up in each category.
