Artex has welcomed two new leaders to helm its Cayman operations as the region experiences fast-paced growth. The skillsets that managing director, Suzanne Sadlier, and director of risk & compliance, Silvanous Inyangala, bring to the Cayman insurance industry are key differentiators in supporting diversified client needs in a challenging insurance marketplace, says the company.
“Artex just celebrated its 25th anniversary, and the new leadership team in Cayman will continue our focus on being trusted advisors and helping our clients find a better way,” said Adrian Lynch, executive vice president, Artex North America. “In conjunction with the existing team, Suzanne and Silvanous have the right vision to build out superior infrastructures to the standard that will allow Artex to continue to grow well into the future.”
Sadlier began at Artex in June 2022 and brings over 15 years of financial services experience predominantly in reinsurance and regulation. Prior to joining Artex, Sadlier worked with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) as head of the onsite inspections and formerly as deputy head of the Insurance Division and as a reinsurance specialist. Sadlier is a faculty member of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education, an executive committee member of the Insurance Managers Association of Cayman and a co-chair of its Education Committee.
“Over recent years Artex has grown quickly in Cayman, and we are seeing growth jurisdictionally in third party (Biii) business for insurers and reinsurers,” said Lynch. “As we see the role of the captive manager evolve beyond its traditional service model, Suzanne’s expertise will drive our continued client-centric focus and the Artex growth trajectory in Cayman.”
In her new role, Sadlier is responsible for implementing renewed strategies across key areas of the business including talent, operations, governance, risk, compliance and business development. She also provides additional capabilities to initiatives across Artex and ultimately further positions her team to become that trusted advisor or consultative partner the new breed of risk manager is looking for.
“Many industries are experiencing increased risk triggered by economic pressures, and more risk managers are seeking out alternative solutions,” said Sadlier, reflecting on her first six months with Artex. “The number of enquiries for captive and reinsurance solutions remains elevated due to the challenges in the commercial market, and Artex is positioned well to respond to these changes and find innovative solutions.”
Silvanous Inyangala
Enhancing services
Inyangala has joined the team as director of risk & compliance (Cayman) & regional lead, Artex.
Prior to joining Artex, Inyangala was chief analyst in the Insurance Supervision Division of CIMA where he was responsible for risk assessment, financial analysis, industry engagement and conducting inspections for the domestic and international insurance industry licensed in the Cayman Islands. He has specialised expertise in regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, financial accounting and financial management of re/insurance entities.
“Having had the benefit of working with Silvanous in recent years, I’m delighted to welcome him to Artex and see the impact he’ll make to enhance services owing to his demonstrated ability to partner his academic successes with practical solutions for optimal stakeholder protection,” said Sadlier.
In his new role, Inyangala will be the designated head of compliance and the money laundering reporting officer and the anti-money laundering compliance officer for Artex, overseeing the organisation’s own requirements in Cayman and ensuring compliance for the growing portfolio of clients it serves. He will work closely with local and international teams within Artex, but will work out of Cayman.
Artex believes there is more to alternative risk management. As a trusted leader and provider of diverse re/insurance solutions in Cayman, the team combines creativity with expertise to find powerful solutions. That’s the benefit of working with experts who can anticipate the unexpected and have the creative intelligence to design alternative risk financing structures that provide greater control and coverage benefits in changing market conditions.
Artex is the world’s third largest insurance manager, with 16+ global offices and licences to operate in 30+ global domiciles. Artex serves over 1,500 customers across more than 1,000 captives, cells and programmes. The company exercises a best-of-both-worlds approach, combining entrepreneurialism backed by a global Fortune 500 company, both rooted in ethics and trust.
